Teas, Tease and Weddings. A weekly catch-up

Well hello, it’s been a while. That’s because my week has been jam-packed with friends, family and celebrations.

I have about 3 posts half-cooking but since i’ve been very busy this week I am going to do a weekly catch-up and then we’ll move onto big projects! I’m super excited to get started!

So settle in, because this one is a long one.

Time to set off! It was a miracle that work wasn’t too busy and the other manager came in after her holiday and covered for me so I could leave an hour and a half early because that meant I only hit the road for 4 hours and a short break rather than 6 which was my last journey home! It also meant I got home early enough to spend quality time with my mum, we watched The House because Amy Poehler, yes please!

Saturday (1)

Sunday was incredibly busy, I started with a trip to town to buy an outfit for the night, which I unfortunately didn’t get a good photo in. I had such a big haul of goodies including some amazing wet-look leggings, lots of jewellery and makeup.

I then went for the cutest Afternoon Tea with my mum, I’ve never had Afternoon Tea before but I have to say i’m a big fan!

It came out on a cute picnic bench and they were all handmade in the adjoining bakery. There was so much we ended up boxing the majority up and taking it home. The Raspberry and White chocolate mousse in biscuit was my favourite, but it was all delicious.

We then walked along the beach and to another place to book Afternoon Tea for Tuesday as we were meeting my mums friend and wanted to do something special.

Sunday night was filled with cocktails and mocktails. I don’t really drink anymore and don’t miss it too much. We basically took up the entire sports bar with 3 tables of 9. It was so good to see everyone before the big day and was a really nice way to start the celebrations. There was also questionable entertainment but everyone left smiling.

I had a berry mocktail that was delicious and then a vegan burger which, again, was a massive portion. Everyone left pretty early to prepare for the big day but it was a great night nonetheless

Saturday (2)

The day came quick! And it was absolutely stunning! It was a late wedding so breakfast could be a slow and enjoyable affair with my mum.

We went back to my favourite coffee shop and I had avocado toast and a smoothie. It had a bit of a kick as it was a boost smoothie named Sunshine – banana, orange, sweet potato, cinnamon, ginger & tumeric.

My smoothie was a bit of a kick for my mum so she opted for a creamy banana and oat smoothie, I much preferred the kick so will definitely be making this at home!

The cake was delicious, it was so creamy and tasted a bit like strawberry and prosecco. I ended up subtly standing next to it and eating more than my fair share (after it was cut of course!)

Possibly the best wedding decoration was this donut wall! And I have just realised how much this has turned into a sweet indulgence post!

Saturday (3)

What a way to round my trip off! Firstly was coffee and breakfast with Mum and Gordon. I had a boost breakfast of wholemeal bread, hummus, avocado, mushroom, poached egg and tomato.

You can definitely tell the difference between fresh cafe food and chains, this food, although nice was soggy and tasted frozen. I followed this with copious amounts of my favourite tea – Lemon & Ginger.

We had a quick coffee break and then relaxed at home for a while, I did a few chores for my mum and reluctantly started to pack.

I cannot believe the amount of food we took home from this! We had 4 boxes full from a 3 person afternoon tea. My absolute favourite was the orange Madeira cake, I also tried macarons for the first time and have to say I have fully bought into the hype!

I am an Afternoon Tea addict now! This one was very traditional compared to the other days so I’m excited to visit more and see the differences in them. Of course my next stop will be my favourite coffee shop that I have mentioned many times because they do lots of vegan options!

It was then time to head back South. It was an incredible mini-break and I cannot wait for my friends and family to come visit so I can take them on adventures in my new home.

… Three Little Things …

I find my time much more manageable when I break my tasks into 3. Which is why my daily routine now consists of planning 3 little things to accomplish during the day. I do plan 3 work and 3 personal so technically it is 6, but work me and at home me are different so I let it slide. Planning your day over a smoothie bowl is the best way to start the day and get motivated!

Through a slew of disorganisation from one simple weekend visiting home I needed both a full body and mind detox, and some real time to myself. So this week is my re-balancing. I aim to spend some time filming and branding for new work opportunities, and organising the hell out of my life and apartment, because more than anything I feel demotivated by clutter. I also struggle a lot with pressure, I tend to build things up to a point that I would rather not start something because I have put overwhelming pressure on myself and don’t want to see it fail.

For example, a silly thing, I have always had an obsession with stationary and it’s become a bit of an issue to the point that I do not want to use some if it for fear of ruining it or making a mistake. So today I put my tasks as:

  1. Notepad for goals which is filled in every evening tracking progress and goals for the next day
  2. 15,000 steps which incorporates a half hour interval run
  3. Do a random activity – Trampoline Park!

  1. Finalise some Edits
  2. Poster design for Grand Opening
  3. Gym like schedule for day-to-day running

I have a lot of goals, and I mean a lot, and I feel like breaking it down like this will ensure I get more done. I have some very big goals to achieve so today I am easing into it with relatively achievable ones, I do not want to clutter my day with big projects, fall at the first hurdle and then be demotivated, so this weekend should see some big changes.

Let’s see how we get on….

It’s been some time since I really felt like I could push myself out of my comfort zone. I’d been dependant on too many people and things for too long. This past month has been tough though, my entire life was flipped upside down, and I felt so lost and alone, but i’m starting to see the positives.

I began by running, a lot, I felt adding it into my morning kept me occupied on those sleepless nights, and then I could relax a bit more when I came home and finished up my morning routine (which I have almost perfected by the way). It allowed me to feel ready for the day with that big burst of energy, and forcing myself time after gave me the perfect amount of time to really put some effort into my appearance with time for makeup and planning an outfit that wasn’t put together in the dark. Now at first I did this out of boredom, then to win someone back, but now I see the clarity and happiness within my own mind and realise I didn’t need to do it for any of those reasons, and now I am doing it for me.

My weekend was packed with memories I know will make me smile for a long time to come. It was my first time back home in almost 6 months, so I made sure to fill my schedule (a little too much). I started, abruptly, with a run down the beach as it had been a 6 hour drive and I needed to stretch out a bit. After a cup of tea with and catch-up with my mum of course.

Saturday was filled with childhood friends. I don’t know many people who are still friends with as big a group of friends from school as I am lucky to have. Nat and Sarah I have known since primary school, Alice, Lucy and Abbi since secondary. I met Sarah for brunch, we have known each other since literal birth and she is always there for me, we needed a very big catch up after the past month so I grabbed a vegan chocolate frappe and smoothie bowl at my favourite coffeehouse. After a well deserved rest we met up with Alice and did some last minute shopping for the big night – Lucys Hen Do!

I went to head home but my mum decided she was now hungry, so back to Riverhead we went for a quick bagel and iced lemon tea. Time to get ready!  I bought the cutest playsuit from PLT and headed off for pre-drinks and a quick photoshoot.

The Bobbin is one of my favourite cocktail bars back home, I had a few long islands with cranberry and the mediterranean platter for food (a cheat day that turned into a cheat weekend, and i’m still feeling it) The night ended prematurely but it was so nice to see everyone and catch up and i’m very excited for the wedding in 2 weeks.

Sunday was a nice day out with my mum, we had Sunday lunch at a beautiful French restaurant, I opted for the Vegan Chicken pie, sweet potato fries and green tea. It was so delicious!

We even went to a cake shop for dessert. The cake was enough for 5 people, and their ice-cream was delicious! Mint choc chip forever! By this point I had eaten so much I couldn’t move! But I needed to reach my step goal so went for a walk along the beach with my mum.

Monday was my mums wedding anniversary and she wanted to surround herself with friends and family so we went on a wonderful Spa day! I didn’t get many photos as I was too busy relaxing but I really pushed myself out of my comfort zone here as we went to the bar in robes for our ‘light lunch’ which was a 2 course meal, and we ended up in a golfers lounge that was filled and no one else was in robes even though I was assured they would be haha! I opted for a facial and scalp, neck and shoulder massage. I love facials but this one really broke me out after spending so much time refining my skincare routine (blog post definitely to come on this!) I think i’ll stick to scrubs and massages in future. To round our day off we had a lovely meal in the restaurant, I opted for pizza and I swear I am never eating pizza again, it was so delicious but I have eaten so much of it!

Tuesday it was unfortunately time to come home, I had a quick stop in town for a coffee and to try to buy these shoes in the Primark sale. I found the cutest cargo pants and trainers combo and but they only had a size 5 in the trainers, but they were only £5 so I was so tempted to squeeze into them, unfortunately I didn’t so also put the cargo pants back. Driving home was long, and very hot, when I got home I decided to rush to Basingstoke Primark before it shut. They had the shoes! And they had been reduced even more! £3 bargain! But oh no, the cargo pants weren’t there. It was too late and too far to go anywhere else so I just got the shoes and decided to try my luck in Camberley another day for the pants, luckily I got them and outfit was complete (barring the tshirt i’d left, yet again, at my mums). I got caught in the rain but here is the outfit nonetheless.

The rest of the week was filled with work. I managed to get a few superdrug bargains, most impressively this NYX palette that was reduced to £8 and they were on 3 for 2 anyway. I also got a new fixing spray to trial and some foundation drops as I am desperately seeking a new full coverage daily foundation that doesn’t break the bank! I’m thinking of doing a haul of this to see what’s out there.

Anyway that is it for my very long but well needed week. I am back to the running grind now and trying not to be demotivated with self-care. Sometimes when you get comfortable it is hard to pull yourself back, but I think I am managing. And writing this is the first steps to some kind of order and routine in something I have wanted to do for a very, very long time.
